Karen Hurtubise is a physiotherapist with 30 years of experience working with children with a variety of chronic conditions (e.g., childhood cancer, cerebral palsy, pain-related disability). She has fulfilled a variety of education, coordination, and management roles associated with pediatric rehabilitation service delivery. She recently completed a Ph.D. in Health Sciences Research at the University of Sherbrooke and is completing a postdoctoral fellowship at CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability, McMaster University. Using participatory approaches involving multiple stakeholder groups (e.g., youth, parents, clinicians, managers, teachers), her research focuses on co-designing, co-implementing, and co-evaluating novel health service delivery models (including telehealth) to improve access to services for children with chronic conditions and their families. She is the President of the International Organization of Physiotherapists in Pediatrics. She loves spending time with my 5-year-old grandson, who teaches her valuable lessons on how to perceive and interact with the world differently.
