Candi Edwards is the Director of Approaches to Community Wellbeing for Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority. She first came on to SLFNHA in 2019 as Manager of the Raising Our Children program, and then served as Associate Director. Prior to joining the Health Authority, she worked with the Ontario Native Women’s Association’s Aboriginal Healthy Babies Healthy Children program for more than fifteen years. She is currently serving on the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada as a Board Member, and held roles as a Parent Partner and Coach Mentor with the BCC from 2019-2024. She has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultunt since 2011. Candi is an experienced professional with extensive expertise in Indigenous advocacy, particularly in the areas of perinatal care, early childhood learning, youth development, and healthy living. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in community advancement, capacity building, planning, and service projects at the regional, provincial, and national levels. Her work is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing and growth of First Nations communities and supporting food sovereignty and Indigenous Milk Medicine through breastfeeding protection, support, and promotion. Candi is a proud member of the Animbiigoo Zaagi’igan Anishinaabek, a mother of three, a sister to many, a wife, a daughter, and a granddaughter.
