Family as Faculty
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Canada
Monica Halsey has been a Family Leader with Holland Bloorview for the last 9 years, and is the mother to two sons, one of whom is autistic. She has a special interest in family centred healthcare, and has partnered with hospital staff to share best practices with a number of organizations.
Monica has had the privilege of contributing to various autism spectrum disorder (ASD) projects, most recently assisting Holland Bloorview with the redesign of its diagnostic process, and co-designing and co-facilitating “While We’re Waiting,” a peer support group for families awaiting an autism assessment. Monica has a BA, MBA and is currently pursuing her MEd in Developmental Psychology & Education at The University of Toronto.
