Nivatha Moothathamby is a PhD candidate in Developmental Psychology and Education, at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She is started her studies by exploring the psycho-social and educational experiences of racialized, South Asian youth and young adults. Her focus is on mental health, healthcare and educational experiences, childhood disability, race, and social inequality. Nivatha is representing the Health Experiences and Arts-Based Research Team (HEART lab), who focus on intersectional research on disability/illness, race, and healthcare experiences. As a racialized Canadian, Nivatha seeks to explore, understand, and share the lived experiences of those who have been marginalized, to work towards an equitable future in healthcare.
