Clinical Epidemiologist
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services , Canada
Hello! My name is Lauren Rickert, and I am the Clinical Epidemiologist for the Congenital Anomalies Surveillance System at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services. I have held this position since March 2023, collaborating closely with my counterparts across the country and the Public Health Agency of Canada. I hold a Master of Science in Medicine (Applied Health Service Research) and am a Registered Social Worker. My career in the healthcare sector began in 2011, initially as a Social Worker in Acute, Emergency, and Rehabilitation care, before transitioning to Research and Epidemiology in 2018.
Prior to my current role, I worked in the Clinical Trials division within the Department of Research and Innovation, where I collaborated with healthcare professionals on new and ongoing clinical trials in oncology, hematology, and cardiology.
Outside of my professional life, I reside in St. Johns with my senior German Shepherd, Bubbles, and two cats, Kitty and Stevie. I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, gardening, bird watching, and, of course, spending time with my pets. I cherish our island’s natural beauty and the proximity to the ocean.
To those who have not been here before, I hope you find the province as beautiful as I do. To those returning, welcome back, and I am sure you will agree on the unique charm of Newfoundland and Labrador. I am very excited to hear about all your contributions to children's health!
