Kathleen Dekker, MHSc., is a Clinical Leader with the Autism Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital. Throughout her career as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, she practiced within multidisciplinary teams and collaborated with parents/caregivers and community partners; particularly within child care settings and homes, to offer care that considers the strengths and needs of each child and their family to promote the best outcomes. In her current role as a Clinical Leader, she engages and mentors staff to support the development and implementation of clinical programs that partner with parents, their children, and other key resources in the child’s life to build skills, embrace their unique traits and talents and apply knowledge and skills in real-world settings (home, school, community) to ensure the child’s ongoing development and participation.
