Clinical Educator

Shelby Barr is a Registered Nurse and clinical educator at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital. She is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, having received two Bachelor of Science Degrees, one in Biology and the other in Nursing. She holds a Master of Nursing Degree in Nursing Education from the University of Victoria, and a Pediatric Critical Care Specialty Certificate from the BC Institute of Technology.
Over the past 10 years she has led numerous initiatives enhancing care delivery for children and families, integrating evidence-based practice to optimize nursing scope. Her leadership was instrumental in developing comprehensive policy frameworks and curricula for the POKe (PICC Opportunities for Kids) and PIVOT (Pediatric IV Outpatient Therapy) initiatives, as well as educating healthcare providers, patients, and families. She’s particularly interested in the use of simulation-based education to improve patient outcomes and develop clinical competencies of healthcare providers.
