Leq’á:mel First Nation Health Manager
Barbara is an accomplished First Nation Health Manager with over 30 years of dedicated experience in health care and community health. With a strong background in public health, Barbara has specialized in designing and implementing health programs that are culturally responsive and tailored to the unique needs of First Nation communities.
Her career has been marked by a commitment to improving health outcomes and ensuring equitable access to health services for Leq’á:mel First Nation. Barbara has successfully led numerous initiatives focused on chronic disease prevention, mental health support, and health education, all while fostering collaboration with community leaders, external health partners and professions and health professionals.
In her role as a Health Manager, Barbara has been instrumental in developing strategies that integrate traditional healing practices with modern medical approaches, respecting and incorporating the cultural values of the community she serves. Her leadership is characterized by a deep understanding of the social determinants of health and a proactive approach to addressing systemic barriers.
